Save Our Babies
Did You Know that in Your Community...
Twice as many African-American babies as White babies are born too soon?
Twice as many African-American babies are born too small to be healthy?
Minority women often start their prenatal care late or not at all?
Why are Black babies more than two times more likely to die than White babies within their first year of life? This is called a "racial disparity" in birth outcome. Racial disparity means there are stark differences in the birth outcomes of Black women and White women. Causes are often related to the mother's health before or during pregnancy, access to prenatal care, socio-economic factors, stress, racism, and the lack of knowledge or support. Black women are two times more likely to have a premature or low-birth weight baby than their White counterparts. Unless there is health equity, the problem of Black babies dying will continue.
Save Our Babies Goals are...
Education & Training
Would you like to learn more about racial disparities and how you or your organization can make a difference? Request a training. All education and training is specifically tailored to the requesting organization. Save our Babies is prepared to train Business, Churches, and consumers at-large through workshops, town hall meetings, or one-on-ones. All training is geared towards promoting:
~ Positive health practices
~ Health equity for all and understanding how infant death effects the whole community
~ Solutions and resources for clients in need
After a training is conducted, each participant receives a certificate, educational materials, and campaign literature that will prepare them to be an "Ambassador" for our babies.
Let us host a Shower Power filled with games, fun, and a gift for mom at your baby shower.
