History
- Program developed in 2001 framed around PPOR (Perinatal Periods
of Risk)
- Started in 2002 with funding from State level March of Dimes
for 3 years
Program Objectives
- Mission- To reduce and eventually eliminate racial disparities
in birth outcomes.
- To promote maternal and child health education in order to
reduce disparities
- To increase early access and continuity of care by utilizing
referral resources
- To provide training and support to minority businesses, community
leaders, and consumers
Methods
- Use non-traditional outreach methods to disseminate information
and conduct training and informational workshops/sessions.
- Train-the-trainer approach (Outreach worker trains stylists,
church leaders, etc. on how to present and educated their constituents)
